Policies and Procedures
All dogs must be leased or in a carrier upon arrival. Even if your dog listens well off-leash, Darby Road can be busy at times and we don’t want to see an accident happen. Also, there may be another dog inside when you enter and even though your dog may love everyone, the dog inside might not. We recommend not using a retractable leash but if that is all you have, we ask that you keep it locked in short length.
Please make sure your dog has been let out or walked and has taken care of their business before entering the Salon. Too often pets relieve themselves after arriving and staff has to stop to clean up and disinfect the area. As pet parents, we are sure you are aware of the health hazards this can present to us and the other pets.
We make every effort to get your pets back to you in a reasonable time frame but unforeseen things can disrupt timing. We do our best to get pets brought in before 9:00 a.m. out before 1:00 p.m. Any pet brought in after 9:00 a.m. can be expected to be out between 2:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. We want to make grooming as enjoyable as possible for your pet. We will not rush a nervous, young or elderly dog through a grooming, most of the time they need a break through different grooming processes. But at the same time, we do not want to keep a pet longer if they are stressed, or barking and stressing the other pets. Again, we try to get your pets in and out in reasonable amount of time.
Making an appointment reserves a groom spot for your pet, when someone cancels last minute or does not show, we cannot always fill their spot that day and it costs us money. Everyone can run into problems sometimes, including us, but just as your time is important so is ours, and when working on such a tight schedule, we need to make the most of our time. We will call with an appointment reminder, or if you provide an email address, we will email you a reminder. MAKING or CHANGING appointments must be made over the PHONE. We do not set up, change or cancel appointments through email, Facebook or text.
We ask for at least 24 hours for an appointment cancellation or change. We will forgive the first last minute cancellation but after that you will be charged 25% of the grooming rate.
As a small, family owned and operated business, no shows can have a detrimental effect on us. We will forgive the first no show but after that you will be charged 50% of the grooming rate. A third no show will result in 100% of the grooming rate being paid when booking the appointment.
We are a small Salon with two groomers and one bather. We must keep everything flowing on pace so that we are able to serve you, your pets, and other clients efficiently. So, if you are late dropping off, our scheduling is off, or if you show to pick up before your pick-up call, it takes additional time to calm your pet down and get back to grooming, and this makes us fall behind in our grooming schedule. We ask that you try to be as punctual as possible. Please do not show up more than 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment and no more than 15 minutes after your scheduled appointment. If you are more than 15 minutes late for your scheduled appointment, we may not be able to take you that day, and you will need to reschedule.
Also, being punctual for pick up helps us greatly. Most pets know when they are done and they can become impatient waiting for pick-up, causing pacing, panting, and stress to other pets.
Our Salon is open Tuesday through Saturday, opening at 7:30 a.m. and closing at 4:00 p.m. We ask that you respect this time and wait until 7:30 to come in. We may be in the building, but we need to set up for the day. We try to close at 4:00 p.m. and hope you understand that we, like you, have children, family, or other plans. We do know that "things happen" and therefore, we give you 15 minutes past closing time to pick up your pet. Anything past the 15 minutes will be charged the rate of $1/minute, much like daycare.
